Paleo Diet Plan Basics

The Paleo Diet Plan is one of the hottest trends in today’s weight loss industry because it’s safe, effective and satisfying. The Paleo diet, also known as the caveman diet, is based on the idea that humans are biologically predisposed to eating natural, unprocessed foods. The diet is centered on eating the way our ancestors ate to maintain a low weight, prevent health problems and increase longevity. fruit-16663_640

The problem with modern diets is that mass-produced foods contain many different chemicals and toxins that can be harmful to the human body. Proponents of the Paleo diet believe that by going back to the hunter-gatherer diet and eating all-natural foods, people can improve their health, lose weight and avoid future health problems.

Today’s widespread health conditions like obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes have long been linked to the modern Western diet. It’s no secret that most people eat too much fat, sugar and processed carbohydrates. In fact, poor nutritional habits are one of the top reasons why many people have such a tough time with maintaining a healthy weight. The problem with dieting is that it simply doesn’t work. Lowering calories doesn’t change the fact that you are eating all the wrong foods.

As a result, you can find yourself feeling starved and deprived in between meals, which in turn leads to overeating and weight gain. What really sets the Paleo diet apart from other types of diets is that it’s meant to keep you full and satisfied while helping you lose weight. Unlike other diets, the Paleo diet works by encouraging you to focus on the type of foods you should eat instead of counting calories.

Supporters of the Paelo diet plan believe that going back thousands of years to the dawn of civilization works because people were never meant to consume the type of foods they eat on a regular basis today. They see turning back the clock as a solution to the many health problems that have now become the norm and not the exception.

In fact, research shows that following the Paleo diet can lower high blood pressure, reduce skin inflammation and acne, lower the risk of developing life-threatening cardiovascular conditions and improve the overall well-being.

Since it would be practically impossible to live as a true hunter-gatherer in today’s society, you can still get the health and weight loss benefits of the Paleo diet by borrowing diet basics from your ancestors and giving them a modern twist. For example, while you can’t go out and hunt you for your protein you can find organic, pesticide-free meat at your local supermarket or health food store. While there are many different variations of the Paleo diet, most are gluten-free. Meaning you can’t eat processed grains like bread and pastas.

Dairy should also be replaced with healthier alternatives that your ancestors would’ve eaten pre-agricultural revolution. Fish, poultry, vegetables and fruits should be the core of any Paleo diet. In general, stick to organic foods that have been around for thousands of years and avoid processed products that are high in fat, sodium and artificial flavoring.
